PaleDNN Weather Module

The PaleDNN Weather Module is the most fully featured Weather Module available for DotNetNuke today. Although the module is designed to be simple to use right out of the box for the most common applications, it is also built to integrate seamlessly into social networking solutions and other situations where more flexibility is required.

 Feature List

 

  • Fully customizable via CSS and HTML templates.
  • Can display the current weather forecast virtually anywhere in the world, by city name or by U.S. Postal Code.
  • Administrator can specify the default temperature scale (Fahrenheit or Celsius).
  • Administrator can specify whether to allow users to be able to search for the current forecast of any city, or to  hide that section.
  • Administrator can specify whether or not to display a link to the detailed weather forecast on Yahoo! Weather.
  • Administrator can enter location via plain text, instead of looking up location ID and entering it manually.
  • A location can be dynamically passed into the module through the QueryString in multiple formats including geocoding.
  • Administrator can specify the time format and units of scale.
  • Fully localized, with language support for both English and German included.

Below are just a few examples of the kinds of layouts you can generate with the PaleDNN Weather module.  The module uses a template and css driven system, with a list of available tokens to display as much or as little detail as you desire.

Example #4: Dynamic Location via the QueryString

In the example below, the location displayed will be based on whatever value is passed in the URL QueryString for weatherlocation. For example, if you navigate to Default.aspx?weatherlocation=Detroit%2C%20MI (that's "Detroit, MI" urlencoded), the module will display the weather for Detroit. Try it out! Append any QueryString value you can think of to the end of this page's URL. Try ?weatherlocation=Los+Angeles or ?weatherlocation=98233.  Any location or US postal code will work.
The location for this module instance is determined by a value for weatherlocation passed into the querystring

The PaleDNN Weather Module contains extensive settings options to give you, the site admin, granular control over how the module will render and behave This includes options to either show or hide the "Change Location" section,the temperature scale selection, and the link to Yahoo Weather, as well as setting the default location to display and to edit the CSS and HTML templates.
